Morbidity and mortality vary among ethnicities.

In the United States, it is estimated to affect nearly 1.5 million persons and 3 to 4 times more prevalent in African American females than Caucasian females (CDC, 2021).

Autoimmune diseases also disproportionately affect Hispanic and Asian women.

Incidence of 20% in males

Patients presenting with symptoms of SLE are often misdiagnosed or undiagnosed.

Symptoms of SLE/sarcoidosis i.e., severe fatigue, joint pain and swelling, hair loss, arrythmias, swollen lymph nodes, skin rashes, fever, Raynaud’s syndrome, and anemia.
